An Allegiant Airlines flight headed to Hagerstown Regional Airport was forced to return to the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport shortly after take off Monday afternoon.
According to Allegiant Airlines, just eight minutes into flight 864, the crew reported smoke in the cabin. The plane landed safely and immediately deployed the emergency slides for passengers to evacuate the cabin. There were 141 passengers and six crew members on board.
So far, three passengers and one flight attendant have reported injuries but at this time, no one has been taken to the hospital or treated by paramedics on-scene.
According to a statement released by Allegiant, passengers are receiving full refunds for the flight and $200 vouchers. Out of town passengers have been provided with hotel rooms for the night.
Allegiant said the flight has been rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon. The flight will depart from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport at 3:50 p.m.
