To be honest, you don’t need an excuse to visit Florida if you are a fanatic of the Sunshine State. But, if you are not an aficionado you might need a bit of convincing. Of course, there are the obvious tourist attractions that everyone knows about such as Disneyland, but there is much more to Florida than a theme park. America’s fourth most populous state has an eclectic mix of culture and attractions that you would be silly to miss if you are ever in the vicinity. Here are the reasons why you have to visit Florida.
It isn’t known for its shopping opportunities, but they are some of the best in the country. There is a wide range, so every base is covered. If you want the glitz and the glamour, there are expensive boutiques and outlets in South Beach and St Augustines. But, if you can’t afford the upmarket shopping, there are affordable malls throughout the state.
The Nightlife is internationally recognized. It is the first thing that springs to mind when you think Florida. For starters, you have Ft Lauderdale and Miami Beach that are synonymous with spring break and thousands of underage teenagers blowing off steam. Okay, that might not sound like your thing, but when spring break isn’t in session, it is still a hive of activity worth checking out. The under-30 crowd tend to hit Tampa’s Ybor City while Universal’s CityWalk appeals to an older clientele with its various restaurants and bars. Florida has numerous, booming nightlife spots for all ages.
The world-famous theme park is special. If you have never been, you won’t be able to comprehend the place until you set foot inside its gates. There are other good theme parks across the globe, but Disneyland is the Mecca of them all. For one thing, it is massive. Just walking throughout the park is enough for a day out. Then there are the rides that are always evolving and adapting for your pleasure, coupled with the electric atmosphere. Whether you are a child or an adult, you will undoubtedly enjoy a day at Disneyland.
Almost all of the keys of Florida are worth a visit, but the attractions in Key West make this particular island in the Strait of Florida one of the most exciting. The attractions vary from age to age, so there is something for everyone. If you fancy a bit of excitement, there is jet skiing and watersports while you can also swim with dolphins and snorkel the amazing landscape.
There is nothing like watching a crocodile in its natural habitat. The world of the Everglades is completely foreign and incredibly different, but that is the point exactly. You are tracking millennia old animals that have the ability to snap you in half if they got the chance, covered in flies and a stench that you cannot get used to. It’s dangerous and exhilarating, but most of all it is a must do day out.
There are other beaches, but there are none better than Florida. Even if you just fancy a vacation lounging around and doing nothing, there is no better place.
After all, it is called the Sunshine State for a reason.
