British Airways Flight Catches Fire at McCarran Airport (LAS)

firelasMcCarran Airport said the incident involved British Airways Flight 2276, which was destined for London’s Gatwick Airport. The listed departure time was 4:05 p.m., according to McCarran’s website. Two people were treated for minor injuries after the London-bound flight caught fire after suffering left-engine failure on it’s take off roll, aborted take off and then evacuated.

There were 159 passengers and 13 crew members on board the flight at the time, McCarran said. The two people were transported to local medical facilities for minor injuries.

The airport said one runway was taken out of service following the incident. Flight operations continue on the airport’s other three runways.

The aircraft involved is is a Boeing 777-200, which seats 275.
