American Airlines flight diverted to Kansas after threat made to plane

An American Airlines flight that left from Phoenix Sky Harbor on Tuesday night had to make an emergency landing after an unruly passenger was on board.

ABC News reports flight 622 was traveling to New York (JFK Airport) when a passenger made a threat to the plane. It’s unclear what the specific threat was. American Airlines has said that the passenger was ‘making threats to passengers and the plane itself.”

The plane with 121 passengers on board was diverted to Wichita, Kansas where the passenger who made the alleged threat was taken off the plane and taken into custody without incident. Law enforcement then searched the on-board lavatories and trash cans.

The flight resumed service to New York and landed just before midnight.
