Mosquito Mayhem! It’s Time To Prepare

Mosquito Mayhem! It’s Time To Prepare

Malaria is an infectious disease, that spreads by mosquito bite. The symptoms of the disease are caused by parasitic protozoans. The symptoms of this affliction will usually show themselves between a week and eighteen days after the bite is received. This makes it hard to predict when people have the illness. It’s important to be aware of the disease before travelling to places where it is common. A lot of people die because of malaria; so, it’s not worth the risk. To help you out, this post will be going through some of the things that you need to consider before making a move.

As stated above, malaria is most commonly transmitted by mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are small flying insects that feed on the blood of larger animals. But, malaria isn’t something that they choose to spread. And, it’s not a function that evolution has caused. Instead, the parasite uses the mosquito as a host. And, when the little flying monster bites you; the disease is transmitted. It’s only a very specific group of mosquitoes that cause malaria. Only members of the Anopheles genus will carry the parasites necessary for malaria to spread. So, if you’re not in a place where these mosquitoes like to hang around; you’re probably safe. Malaria is treated with a great deal of seriousness. So, when it’s found, people will be made very aware of it’s presence.

The mosquitoes that cause malaria have a very specific preference to their home; they like it hot. So, you’ll only find them in certain parts of the world. There is a large band that goes through South America, Africa, and Asia that should be completely avoided if you want to remove the risk of malaria. Thankfully, you will be warned by most travel companies if you’re booking a holiday in an area that is home to these mosquitoes. And, you will be given the information you need to prepare for it.

Malaria can be fatal if it’s not treated correctly. The symptoms of the disease include fevers, diarrhea, vomiting, headaches, and sweats & chills. As a combination, this will usually lead to dehydration and malnutrition, which is what will usually cause the death. In 2015 alone, there were over two hundred million cases of malaria recorded, worldwide. Out of those, over four hundred thousand died. These are staggering numbers when you consider how available treatment is for this disease. Of course, most of the deaths are found in very young, old, or weak individuals. But, this doesn’t mean that you don’t have to be very careful.

Before you go on your trip, you should be given some medication. This medication is designed to help you to avoid malaria; even if you’re bitten by a mosquito. You should always have this provided to you by a doctor. But, if you’ve had them before, you can look into your options to order malaria tablets online. This will usually make it much cheaper. But, you need to make sure that the treatment you buy is good enough for the challenge you’re facing. Read reviews and ask for a doctor’s opinion before trying something like this for the first time. Make sure that you take your entire course of antimalarials before you go on your trip. And, that you keep taking them while you’re away.

There are loads of other diseases and issues that can be caused by mosquitoes. So, it’s important to make sure that you’re careful on your travels. One of the biggest issues at the moment that mosquitoes cause is Zika. This disease isn’t usually fatal. In fact, it usually passes with a mild infection. And, then you’re fine. But, it’s been found that Zika can actually cause birth-defects if a woman is pregnant when she’s infected. The birth-defects caused are usually smaller skulls, resulting in issues with development. Along with this, Yellow Fever is also transmitted by mosquitoes. This disease is very similar to Malaria. But, it can be vaccinated. You have to have the vaccine at least ten days before travelling; but, it lasts for ten years afterwards. Always make sure you’re aware of illnesses like this before you travel. Mosquitoes can be found pretty much everywhere. So, it’s worth being safe.

Hopefully, this will give you the information you need to save yourself the pain of suffering from malaria. This sort of illness can be very difficult to live with. It can last a very long time. And, can even be fatal. So, it’s best to find ways to avoid it as much as possible. And, don’t forget; you’ve got some other illnesses to think about as well.
