County music singer Trace Adkins has entered rehab after 12 years of sobriety, according to ABC News. Adkins reportedly got into a fight on a cruise ship.
Adkins was a the headliner on a seven day country music cruise onboard Norwegian Cruise Lines, with other stars such as Montgomery Gentry and Wynonna Judd.
The singer was set off when he was in a bar and he heard a Trace Adkins impersonator karaoke to one of his songs and triggered a physical response.
A representative for Adkins confirmed to ABC News in a statement that the singer disembarked after the cruise ship docked in Jamaica and departed for rehab shortly after.
Adkins’ last stint in rehab was for one month in 2002. Of the experience he said, “If you’ve ever been through one of those things, it’s the most humiliating experience you’ll ever have. To hear people you respect and love sit there and tell you the kind of pain you’ve been causing them. They tear you down completely then they haul you off to rehab. So I did that, and yeah, I’m an alcoholic. And are there enablers? There are, but I luckily had a group around me that finally put their foot down.”
