After being banned from flying Aerolineas Argentinas for 5 years, Playboy Playmate, Viky Xipolitakis may be planning a lawsuit against the airline following the recent flight in which she was allowed by the pilots to take control of the Embraer 190 during a domestic flight in Argentina.
Aerolineas Argentinas pilots, Patricio Zocchi Molina and Federico Matias Soaje, were fired after they invited the model to join them in the cockpit and actually access the controls during an Austral flight from Buenos Aires to Rosario, Argentina on June 22nd. Ms. Xipolitakis was on her way to tape a reality show in the Rosario area.
The airline issued the following statement regarding the affair:
“In relation to the events that took place during the Austral flight 2708 on Monday June 22, Aerolineas Argentinas and Austral state that the pilots Patricio Zocchi Molina and Federico Matias Soaje were removed from their activities on this day and will be dismissed as well as the rest of the staff with responsibility in this event. Also criminal proceedings against the above-named and against the passenger involved will be initiated under Article 190 of the penal code for putting the flight’s safety at risk.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, and in accordance with the provisions of the company’s rules (Manual of Procedures for loading passengers on the “Watch list”) in relation to disruptive passengers, it is reported that the passenger will be prevented from flying for five years on Aerolineas and Austral flights by virtue of the right of admission available to the company.
The company confirms its continuing commitment to safety and the respect for operational and safety policies and protocols. In pursuit of this is that not only no deviation from internal policies is tolerated but also all legal actions to punish this serious incident will be initiated. The behavior of the pilots, also rejected by their professional association, is totally opposed to the operational safety culture of Austral Líneas Aéreas.”
