School holidays can cost a fortune. Even if you’re not going away anywhere, the costs still mount up. You’re bound to be spending more on food when the children are at home all day. And that’s not cheap. Start saving coupons and money off vouchers. You can get free or cheap admission to all sorts of family friendly places. If you start now you should have quite a stash by the time summer rolls around!

If you go abroad, then be sure to read up before you go, especially if it’s somewhere you’ve never been before. This can save you a tonne of time and effort once you get there. You don’t want to waste your precious vacation time! An innovative way to see a city is to hire a local to give you a guided tour. This gives you a quick way to learn your destination in and out. Touriocity totally bespoke, and you choose when and how long for. If you like to see what a place is really all about, it’s ideal. Make sure you always carry directions and your accommodation address with you. it’s so easy to get confused when you’re on holiday! Sometimes, everywhere can end up looking the same. Going on vacation away from home is a brilliant way to teach your children about different cultures and languages. They can experience different food and ways of life. If you do decide to stay at home, it might still cost more than you bargained for. Even visiting cheaper local attractions can make a dent in your finances. Once you venture out, you’ll find that your hand permanently seems to be reaching for your purse. Ice cream, drinks, snacks, and that’s just the start. Bus fares, petrol, entrance fees, and oh look! There’s a gift shop. Your children are desperate to buy yet more overpriced merchandise that they’ll break on the way home. When you have kids, it can sometimes feel that you are just throwing money away for the sake of a quiet life! Keep your outgoings to a minimum on days out and be a savvy saver. Take packed lunches, crisps and snacks with you when you’re out and about. Take plenty of drinks, too. Filling up bottles with squash costs pennies, which will save you masses of cash. Soft drinks are one of the biggest money makers for shops and resorts.

Whatever you decide to do this summer, you can still make the most amazing memories. Spending time together as a family is priceless, and your children will remember your vacations when they have kids of their own. So make them fun!
